Australian Rules Football is a fast growing sport which originated in Victoria, Australia and was originally called the Victorian Football League (VFL). In 1990, due to a number of interstate sides joining the competition, the VFL changed its name to the Australian Football League or AFL, making it a National Sport. In recent years more people have been drawn to the sport from overseas, with 8 leagues competing in the International Cup and 47 countries now involved with the Sport.

Adelaide Crows

The Adelaide Crows joined the Australian Football League (AFL) in 1991, as the first South Australian team.

Brisbane Lions

Please only submit sites for the Brisbane Lions Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL).

The Brisbane Lions were formed at the end of 1996 as the result of a merger between the Brisbane Bears and the Fitzroy Lions. Home games are played at the GABBA in Brisbane, Queensland. The Lions won their first grand final against the Essendon Bombers in 2001.

Carlton Blues

One of the most successful clubs in the history of the VFL/AFL is the Carlton Blues. It is also one of the best supported clubs in the competition. Home games are played at Optus Oval in Carlton, Victoria.

Collingwood Magpies

Please only submit sites for the Collingwood Magpies Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL).

The Collingwood Magpies play their home games at the MCG in Melbourne and joined the VFL/AFL in 1897. They have won 14 premierships, four of those were consecutive between 1927 and 1930, making an AFL record.

Essendon Bombers

Founded in 1897, the Essendon Bombers won the first league premiership. They are one of the most successful clubs in the AFL. The year 2000 produced a record-breaking season for Essenond, winning both the Ansett Cup and the AFL premiership. The records they broke that year were: * Most games won in a season (24/25). * Most games won in succession in a season (20). * Highest finals score ever -- 31.12 (198) against the Kangaroos. * Best ever start to a season (20-0). * Most consecutive weeks on top of the ladder (29). * Most flags (equal with Carlton) with 16.

Fremantle Dockers

Fremantle was the second West Australian-based team to join the AFL and played its first match in 1995. Home games are played at Subiaco in Western Australia.

Geelong Cats

Geelong is the second oldest football club in Australia and was formed in 1859. Geelong holds the League record for the highest score ever kicked 37.17 (239) against Brisbane in 1992. Geelong has won seven premierships in total, the most recent against Port Adelaide in 2007.

Hawthorn Hawks

Please only submit sites for the Hawthorn Hawks Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL).

Hawthorn joined the AFL in 1925 and have won nine premierships. They were a dominant force in the 1980's winning four premierships.

Kangaroos

Please only submit sites for the Northern Kangaroos Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL).

The Kangaroos joined the League as the North Melbourne Football Club in 1925. They changed their name at the start of the 1999 season. The Kangaroos have won four premierships.

Melbourne Demons

The Melbourne Demons are an Australian Rules football club in the highest level of competition - the Australian Football League. Based at the mighty MCG in Melbourne, they are one of the greatest football clubs. Melbourne is also one of the worlds oldest sporting clubs, established in 1858. The golden era was in the 50s & 60s under coach Norm Smith winning five premierships. In total Melbourne has won the premiership flag twelve times.

Port Adelaide Power

Please only submit sites for the Port Adelaide Power Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL).

Port Adelaide joined the AFL in 1997 and missed making the finals in its first year on percentage only. It played in its first finals series in 1999. In 2001, it became the first non-Victorian team to win the Ansett Cup beating Brisbane at Football Park and finished in the top four at the end of the home and away season. Despite being the latest addition to the competition, Port Adelaide boasts a long and proud tradition as the Port Adelaide Magpies in the South Australian competition, the SANFL. The Port Magpies have won 34 premierships as the dominant force in the SANFL. They are yet to win an AFL premiership.

Richmond Tigers

Richmond was admitted to the League in 1908 and the former working class suburb east of the city centre quickly built a huge supporter base and a strong reputation. The Tigers have won ten premierships.

St. Kilda Saints

Please only submit sites for the St Kilda Saints Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL).

St Kilda was one of the VFL's foundation clubs in 1897, but has won only one premiership. That was in 1966 when it defeated Collingwood by one point. Despite the lack of team success, the Saints have always had a loyal and fanatical supporter base.

Sydney Swans

Sydney has been an AFL pioneer-- the former South Melbourne Football Club relocating to the harbor city in 1982. South Melbourne joined in 1897 and won three premierships, Sydney has not yet won a grand final.

West Coast Eagles

The West Coast Eagles joined the AFL in 1987 and became the first club from outside Victoria to win an AFL premiership when they defeated Geelong in 1992. They repeated that success in 1994.

Western Bulldogs

Please only submit sites for the Western Bulldogs Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL).

Footscray changed its name to the Western Bulldogs before the start of the 1997 season and achieved finals success immediately. Footscray joined the AFL in 1925 and has tasted premiership success only once -- in 1954. In 1989, the club was nearly forced into extinction by a proposed merger with Fitzroy.
