The Cleveland Browns was one of the teams in the All-America Football Conference which operated from 1946 to 1949 and won all four AAFC Championships. The AAFC merged with the NFL for the 1950 season.The team was named as a result of a contest before the 1946 season and was named after much-loved head coach Paul Brown.
