A cursor is the position indicator on a computer display screen where a user can enter text or a visible and moving pointer that the user controls with a mouse touch pad, or similar input device. Cursors can be animated or static.

An icon is a small picture that represents an object or program.
The little images that indicate "My Computer", your "Network Neighborhood", "Recycle Bin Full", "Recycle Bin Empty ", and "My Documents" . When an icon is clicked on, some action is performed such as opening a directory or aborting a file transfer.

ScreenMates are small, animated inhabitants of your desktop! They interact with you and your desktop.

Screen Savers are entertainment elements, which come in a variety of styles.
They are the images that cycle whenever your computer has remained idle for a certain period of time. They were originally intended to prevent monitor burn-out which could occur if the same image remained motionless on your screen for too long. But with modern monitors this is highly unlikely to happen.
This category is for Screen Savers whether they are for sale, Shareware or Freeware.

A skin is a graphic image file used to change the appearance of the user interface to a program. When using a skin, the appearance of the user interface changes but not the functions of the program.

Startup and Shutdown Screens are replacement screens for when Windows loads or shuts down. Windows startup and shutdown screens are actually 256 Color 320 x 400 Windows BMP saved with a SYS extension.

A Desktop Theme is a collection of files that let you take control of the way your computer looks and sounds.
Themes usually come with a collection of cursors, icons, sound files, wallpaper, color scheme and an installation file. Sometimes themes also include screensavers and startup or shutdown screens.
Themes can only be utilized if you have a theme installer or manager. Microsoft makes one called Plus!. There are other utilities out that do the same thing. Some others are listed and available for download in Computers/Software/Desktop_Customization/Desktop_Utilities.

Before submitting your site, please review the Guidelines for Submitting a Site. Wallpaper is the main picture that appears on your desktop. Windows requires that the wallpaper be in bitmap format. Plus! and other installers take the .jpg image as you install the theme, and convert it to a .bmp.
