A mini-series has been defined as a "narrative drama designed to be broadcast in a limited number of episodes" and that have a logical beginning, middle, and end. Most often the mini-series will be an adaptation of a popular novel ("The Thorn Birds"), or a depiction of people and/or events of an historical significance ("From the Earth to the Moon"). A mini-series usually consists of more than two but less than thirteen episodes (or parts), and is specifically made to air on television.

Anne of Green Gables

During the waning days of Roman Empire, the barbarian Huns violently make their way torward Europe under the leadership Attila, a fierce warrior. Roman General Flavius Aetius attempts to form an alliance with Attila against the Visigoths but the plan does not go smoothly and soon a battle rages amongst all three armies.

Band of Brothers

"Band of Brothers" is an HBO mini-series which originally aired in 2001 and is based on the Stephen Ambrose book of the same name. The mini-series tells the story of Easy Company, 506th Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division, U.S. Army, which parachuted into France on D-Day.

Battlestar Galactica - 2003

Remake of the 1980s series about survivors of a fallen civilization journeying to find Earth. The miniseries first aired in 2003.

This version starred William Hurt as Duke Leto Atreides, Alec Newman as Paul Atreides, and Saskia Reeves as Lady Jessican Atreides and was directed by John Harrison.

From the Earth to the Moon
